Slite MCP server

Connect Slite to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, GitHub Copilot and any other MCP client, for your whole team. Metorial adds security, governance, and tracing, and gives everyone one Magic MCP URL to connect.

What you can do with the Slite MCP server

Ask your agent in plain language. Each of these maps to a real tool on the server.

  • Use the audit knowledge base tool in Slite
  • Use the ask question tool in Slite
  • Use the update note tool in Slite
  • Use the delete note tool in Slite
  • Use the search notes tool in Slite
  • Use the create note tool in Slite

Supported Tools

audit_knowledge_base

Audit Knowledge Base

Audit workspace content health by listing notes in various categories: all notes, publicly shared notes, inactive notes, or empty notes. Useful for identifying stale, missing, or publicly exposed documentation.

ask_question

Ask Question

Ask a natural language question to Slite's AI-powered knowledge base. The AI searches across all accessible notes and returns an answer with source references. Results can be scoped to a specific parent note or assistant. The question can create a retained thread; a processing result is not a completed answer. Read the same thread rather than resubmitting.

update_note

Update Note

Update an existing note's title, content, or attributes. Provide only the fields you want to change — omitted fields remain unchanged.

delete_note

Delete Note

Permanently delete a note and all of its children. This action is **irreversible** — the note and all nested content will be permanently removed.

search_notes

Search Notes

Search notes by keyword across the workspace. Results can be filtered by parent note, review state, edit date, and more. Returns highlighted matching snippets for each result.

create_note

Create Note

Create a new note (document) in the Slite workspace. Notes can be placed under a parent note for organization, created from templates, and include markdown or HTML content.

list_notes

List Notes

List notes in the workspace with optional filters. Supports filtering by owner, parent note, and sort order. Use cursor-based pagination for large result sets.

find_user_or_group

Find User or Group

Look up users or groups in the workspace. Search by name/email, or retrieve a specific user or group by ID. Useful for resolving ownership information or finding team members.

manage_custom_content

Manage Custom Content Index

Index, list, or delete external custom content in Slite's AI knowledge base through provider-deprecated endpoints, where enabled, so the Ask feature can reference it when answering questions. Use **action** to select the operation.

update_tile

Update Tile

Update a specific tile (content block) within a note. Tiles can have a title, icon, status badge, external link, and markdown content. Use this to push dynamic or external data into specific sections of a document.

get_note

Get Note

Retrieve a note by its ID, including its full content. Supports markdown, HTML, or Slite's internal format. Can also fetch child notes of any note for navigation.

manage_note_lifecycle

Manage Note Lifecycle

Manage a note's lifecycle state. Supports verifying, flagging as outdated, archiving/unarchiving, and changing ownership. Use the **action** field to select the operation.

download_note

Download Note

Download one exact note as Markdown, HTML, or native SliteML. SliteML preserves rich block types; Markdown and HTML can lose native editing structure. The file contains the current readable note, without child-note recursion or historical-version guarantees.

get_current_user

Get Current User

Read the authenticated API key’s native user and organization profile. This endpoint does not provide a user or organization ID.

get_ask_thread

Get Ask Thread

Read an existing Ask conversation or poll the threadId returned by ask_question. Preserve processing, failed, and needs-approval states. This operation neither submits a new question nor approves drafted changes. Source IDs in rounds are citation IDs, not note IDs.

Run Slite through the Metorial gateway

One governed layer for every app your agents reach, not a separate connector per tool.

  • Give Slite and every other app to your whole team through one MCP gateway, behind your SSO.
  • Scope which teams and agents can use Slite tools with role-based access control, and trace every call.
  • Prefer to run it yourself? Metorial is open source and self-hostable.
