Supported Tools

get_place_details

Get Place Details

DEPRECATED — use `get_place_details_current` instead. Retrieve comprehensive details about a specific place by its Foursquare ID. Returns rich data including name, address, coordinates, categories, hours, contact info, ratings, popularity, and more. Use the fields parameter to request only specific attributes.

find_nearby_places

Find Nearby Places

DEPRECATED — use `get_geotagging_candidates` instead. Find places closest to a specific geographic coordinate. Unlike search, this endpoint focuses on immediate proximity and is designed for identifying what's around a precise location. Ideal for "what's near me" use cases.

get_place_photos

Get Place Photos

DEPRECATED — use `get_place_photos_current` instead. Retrieve photos for a specific place. Returns photo metadata and assembled URLs. Photos can be filtered by classification and sorted by popularity or recency.

submit_place_feedback

Submit Place Feedback

DEPRECATED — use `suggest_place_changes` instead. Propose edits to place attributes or flag problematic places in the Foursquare database. Supports two modes: **propose an edit** to correct or update place details (name, address, phone, categories, etc.), or **flag a problem** to report issues like closures, duplicates, or incorrect locations.

search_places

Search Places

DEPRECATED — use `search_places_current` instead. Search for places (points of interest) in the Foursquare database. Supports searching by keyword, location, category, chain, and geographic area. Results can be filtered by price range, operating hours, and sorted by relevance, rating, distance, or popularity.

match_place

Match Place

DEPRECATED — use `match_place_current` instead. Match a place name and location to a Foursquare POI record. Useful for enriching in-house datasets with Foursquare data by matching against known place names and addresses or coordinates.

get_feedback_status

Get Feedback Status

DEPRECATED — use `get_suggestion_status` instead. Check the status of a previously submitted place feedback (edit proposal or flag). Use the feedback ID returned from the Submit Place Feedback tool.

autocomplete_places

Autocomplete Places

DEPRECATED — use `autocomplete_places_current` instead. Provides type-ahead search suggestions for places, addresses, and geographic areas. Returns a mix of result types as the user types, ideal for building search-as-you-type experiences.

get_place_tips

Get Place Tips

DEPRECATED — use `get_place_tips_current` instead. Retrieve tips and reviews for a specific place. Tips are user-submitted text reviews that provide insight about the venue experience.
