How to connect Square to Claude

1. 1. Enable Square in Metorial

   In your Metorial portal, enable the Square MCP server and sign in with the account that owns the data. Access stays governed by your team policies.

2. 2. Add a custom connector

   Open Customize, then Connectors. Select Add, then Custom, then Web.

3. 3. Paste your Metorial MCP URL

   Name it Metorial, paste your Magic MCP URL (<your-magic-mcp-url>) and continue.

4. 4. Sign in

   Select Add and sign in to load Square tools.

• Get Catalog Object: Retrieve a specific catalog object by its ID.
• Upsert Catalog Object: Create or fully replace a catalog object (item, variation, category, tax, discount, modifier list, etc.).
• Update Customer: Update an existing customer profile.
• Create Payment: Charge a token or saved card, or record cash or an external payment.
• Create Order: Create an OPEN or DRAFT order at a Square location.
• Get Inventory Counts: Retrieve current inventory counts, optionally filtered by item variations, locations, tracked states, or update time.
• Get Invoice: Get an invoice by ID, including its current version, payment schedule, recipient, status, and customer payment URL when published.
• Create Invoice: Create a draft invoice for an existing order.
• Delete Customer: Permanently delete a customer profile from the Square account.
• Adjust Inventory: Apply physical counts or inventory adjustments to item variations.
• Search Catalog: Search Square catalog items by text or category, or search catalog objects by type and advanced query.
• List Payments: List payments with documented date, location, card, amount, and offline filters.
• Search Orders: Search for orders across one or more locations.
• Get Customer: Retrieve full details of a specific customer profile by ID.
• List Invoices: List invoices at one location with status, version, recipient, payment requests, and public URL when available.

• Turn Metorial on for a conversation with the + button, then Connectors; each connector has its own toggle.
• Claude asks before it runs a Square tool. Choose Allow always only for tools you trust to run unsupervised.
• Use the Search and tools menu to switch off tools you do not need in the current conversation.
• Remove the connector from Customize, then Connectors. Team and Enterprise owners can do this for the whole organization.

Members on a Team or Enterprise plan cannot add the connector

On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds custom connectors in Organization settings, then Connectors. Members then connect it with their own account.

The Free plan only allows one custom connector

One is enough: your Metorial URL carries every app your team approves, so you never need a second connector.

Tools do not show up in a chat

Connectors are switched on per conversation. Open the + menu in the chat, choose Connectors, and turn Metorial on.
